Pietro Yon

Pietro Yon ( 1886-1943 ), one of the most well known organists of his day. He was organist at St. Peter's Basilica, St. Patrick's Cathedral, in New York, and at the Royal Chapel in Rome. A noted composer, Yon is best known today for "Jesu Bambino". I've posted a video, below. You've probably heard it but would be hard pressed to name it. HERE is an account of the premiere of his "Concerto Gregoriano".
When the Kilgen organ was installed at Immaculate Conception, in the Old South End, Msgr. Sawkins decided to have the best organist in the country play at the dedication. The monsignor was a hard man to refuse, so Yon was the organist at the dedication, on December 11, 1927.
