Fr. Kolb "carved" it?
Look under it. The relief at the left is polychromed. Seems to be a good Agnus Dei in the middle.
And is that mushroom shaped item, next to the altar a bell?
Yeah i guess. The captions in the book i took that photo from sound like a first grader wrote them.
It could be a bell...they have bells here and there all over that church/grounds. Hard telling.
There was a Fr. T.M. Kolb at St. Patrick's in Bascom, 1894-1898. I will have to scan the picture sometime.
